Support Avis Linux

Avis Linux is a completely independent, non-commercial open-source project. We are committed to building a reliable, privacy-first desktop distribution — strictly free of telemetry, tracking, and corporate dependencies.

---

Our Philosophy: Independence & Transparency

Every contributor and maintainer at Avis Linux works entirely on a voluntary basis in their personal free time. No one receives a salary, and zero labor hours are billed.

Currently, all core operational expenses are funded privately out of pocket by the Avis Linux team.

To take Avis Linux to the next level, our primary objective is to reach financial self-sustainability (cost coverage). Beyond sustaining our own desktop environment, we want to give back to the upstream ecosystem: our goal is to host and maintain a fast, dedicated official Debian Mirror in Switzerland for the broader community.

Infrastructure Budget & Running Costs

To remain completely open and transparent, here is a breakdown of our ongoing operational expenses and community targets:

1. Core Operations (Currently funded by the team)

Essential services required to build, host, and deliver Avis Linux.

| Service / Resource | Purpose | Approx. Cost |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Domain & Anycast DNS | Identity (avis-linux.org) & secure DNSSEC resolution | ca. 25 CHF / year |
| Webspace & Secure API | Distribution portal, RSS feeds, PGP keys, and telemetry-free docs | ca. 80 CHF / year |
| CI/CD Build Runner | Automated .deb packaging pipelines & ISO generation (live-build) | ca. 420 CHF / year |
| Master Repo & Storage | Primary APT repository and rsync sync-endpoint for external mirrors | ca. 240 CHF / year |
| Core Total | Basic operations baseline | ca. 64 CHF / month (ca. 765 CHF / year) |

2. Community Give-Back & Resilient Infrastructure

Milestones to give back to the Debian community and ensure uninterrupted mirror availability.

| Target Component | Purpose & Community Impact | Target Budget |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Swiss Debian Mirror | High-bandwidth public Debian mirror (Giving back to Upstream) | ca. 300 – 600 CHF / year |
| Fiber Backup Uplink | Redundant high-speed connection for continuous repository syncs | 777 CHF / year |
| Power & Housing | Electricity and colocation for on-premise hardware | ca. 360 – 600 CHF / year |
| Dedicated Hardware | Bare-metal server for virtualization, package builds & storage arrays | ca. 2'000 CHF (one-time) |

Corporate Sponsorships & Infrastructure Partners

We welcome hosting providers, datacenters, and organizations that share our dedication to open standards, digital sovereignty, and privacy.

Ways Companies Can Support:

Mirror Infrastructure: Sponsoring high-speed bandwidth, sync targets, or CDN endpoints. Hardware & Colocation: Providing rack units, dedicated bare-metal nodes, or testing hardware. Continuous Integration: Sponsoring compute resources for automated package builds.

In return, we offer transparent attribution with your logo or link on our website, within our distribution release notes, and in official mirror lists (strictly without tracking or commercial ad trackers).
